Otitis is common, frustrating and difficult to treat. This course will allow you to develop a clear clinical framework for treating ear disease in your practice and will consider the causes, diagnosis and treatment of otitis externa and otitis media. We will discuss the sometimes-competing factors of cost, antibiotic stewardship and owner and patient quality of life as well as giving a comprehensive account of current treatments.

  • The causes and complications of otitis
  • Diagnosis and treatment choices
  • Prevention and long-term treatment strategies

 

Learning objectives:

 

  • Describe the role of inflammation and dysbiosis in ear disease
  • Take and interpret ear cytology
  • Use the PSPP system to optimize treatment plans for otitis based on historical, clinical and laboratory data
  • Develop clear strategies to monitor and prevent recurrence of ear disease

 

This course is aimed at veterinary surgeons treating otitis in dogs and cats that want to develop their knowledge and skills.  The course will provide opportunities to discuss current practice and explore common problems.
