This practical one-day hands-on course will focus on linking anatomy and function in the horse, with a focus on the forelimb and its attachment with the thorax. The course has interactive tasks to explain the biomechanics and anatomy. Delegates will be able to perform an ultrasound examination of cadaveric horse limbs, followed by dissection. There are also stations on museum specimens of key areas of the MSK system in order to strengthen the understanding of MSK anatomy, function and disease.

Course Description

 Topics to be covered include:

·         Anatomy and biomechanics of the equine MSK system: focus on forelimb and related axial system

 Learning Objectives: 

·         Relate surface anatomy to the underlying features.

·         Perform dissection of the equine forelimb and synsarcosis.

·         Critically relate MSK anatomy and function to clinical cases and biomechanics.

 Required delegate attributes or who this course is suitable for: people with horses in a professional capacity, e.g. physiotherapists, veterinary physiotherapists, animal science course educators/students, veterinary nurses, veterinary surgeons and osteopaths.
