This five-day course will give you an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the principles and processes of undertaking systematic reviews to inform healthcare policy and practice.

This course is delivered by experts from the University of Nottingham Centre

Course Description

The course is divided into 3 modules; an introductory module (module 1), followed by modules specialising in the synthesis of quantitative and qualitative evidence (modules 2 and 3 respectively). All participants must undertake module 1 but can then choose to undertake both or just one of the subsequent modules. Hence, the course can be taken for a total of 3 or 5 days.

·        Module 1 – July 8^th  2024

·        Module 2 – July 9^th and 10th 2024

·        Module 3 – July 11^th and 12^th 2024

Course Fees include a lunch voucher, tea/coffee, and all course materials. Participants can pay either by card or by invoice. (Invoice is for participants who will be funded by a funder. Invoices must be paid 2 weeks prior to commencing the course).

Course Content
The course will give you an excellent understanding of all the steps required for undertaking a systematic review, including:

- deciding which review is appropriate for your enquiry

- formulating a review question

- developing a search strategy

- selection and screening of studies

- critical appraisal of research

- data extraction

- data synthesis, including meta-analysis (where appropriate) and meta-synthesis

- establishing confidence in the review findings (using GRADE or CONQUAL)

- reporting review findings according to PRISMA/ENTREQ guidelines

The course will provide you will opportunities to practice each of the above steps using JBI SUMARI software, and to develop a systematic review protocol related to your own question.
