Assessing and Giving Feedback for Technical Learning

Learn the principles of effective assessment and feedback, and how to build these into your teaching and training practice. 

Course Description

Focusing on your current approaches, you will be given the opportunity to practice and embed effective techniques for assessing and giving feedback. We will examine the purposes of using assessment frameworks and categories of feedback for supporting your learners’ development. 

Learning outcomes: 

• Critically reflect on your current approach to assessment and feedback​ 

• Discuss different types of assessment and feedback ​ 

• Explore the principles of ‘constructive alignment’ and their role in assessing and providing feedback​ 

• Practice using feedback and feedforward techniques​ 

• Consider how this approach could support the development of your practice and Advance HE professional recognition 

This workshop is aimed at technical professionals who support others’ learning and would like to enhance their teaching or training skills in assessing and giving feedback to learners. 

This workshop focuses on the technical context of teaching and training in higher education and research environments, using real life examples drawn from technicians’ practices. 

There are two opportunities to book onto this session.

In addition to the 3 hour workshop, there will be up to 1 hour of preparation and post-workshop reflection.
