This leadership programme is designed specifically with higher education and research professionals in mind by using examples and case studies drawing directly on the realities of technical and research leadership environments. Participants will explore leadership in the context of navigating complex infrastructures and cross-disciplinary collaboration. By inviting technical and research professionals from a variety of environments, all peer-to-peer learning will be relevant and applicable to everyday work.   

Pre-work details: There will be a short questionnaire to determine your current leadership knowledge and challenges and the environment in which you are currently working. This will allow us to tailor the course content as much as possible to the participants. 

Course Details

Session 1 - Leading Self: Awareness, Confidence and Influence  

Themes: Leadership identity, Strengths-based and situational leadership, Emotional intelligence, Influence beyond authority 

Outcome: Leaders develop awareness of their strengths, influence patterns, and personal leadership purpose. 

Session 2 - Communicating and Empowering Others

Themes: Communication clarity, Delegation, Coaching mindset, Psychological safety 

Outcome: Leaders learn to communicate clearly, delegate effectively, and enable others through coaching and trust-building practices. 

Session 3 - Leading Teams through Challenge and Change

Themes: Team dynamics, Conflict transformation, Feedback cultures, Adaptive leadership 

Outcome: Leaders gain tools and confidence to navigate tension, build healthy feedback cultures, and lead teams through uncertainty with empathy and composure. 

Session 4 - Integration, Resilience and Celebration 

Themes: Reflective leadership, Wellbeing & resilience, Peer learning, Celebration 

Outcome: Participants consolidate learning, strengthen peer networks, and leave with renewed clarity, confidence, and sustainable strategies for leadership.
