The content will include the theory and practice of a physical examination in relation to:
Behavioural patterns of the newborn will be explored in relation to changes in homeostasis eg. thermoregulation, glycaemic control. In addition, the effects of gestational age on the newborn will be considered. The role of the healthcare practitioner in relation to competencies in new skills will be explored and the related professional issues analysed. Communication and health promotion will be focused around giving information to parents concerning the preparation, the examination and the information obtained from the examination. The importance of working within a inter-professional team will be evaluated. The price is £1,000 for taking this course as non-credit bearing.
