Course Description

 

This one-day online workshop will help CBT therapists engage and work with typical anxiety disorder patients, such as those with OCD, social anxiety, and PTSD, who are showing resistance. Opportunities to practice skills will be given and discussion of shared experiences will be encouraged. It is suitable for CBT therapists of any level of experience.

Learning objectives

  Increase confidence that diagnosis and formulation of treatment is correct.

  Improve skills in addressing patients who are demotivated and difficult to engage.

  Describe optimal treatment strategies.

  Increase awareness of challenging factors such as low self-esteem and anxiety intolerance/sensitivity. 

Presented by Philip Kinsella, CBT therapist, and Associate Professor, University of Nottingham.

Philip has a professional background in nursing, both psychiatric and general, mainly in acute settings. He is a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Philip is accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP). His training in psychotherapy is via Diploma in Behavioural Psychotherapy, MSc in Psychotherapy, and Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Cognitive Therapy. In 2024, Philip was awarded a fellowship of the BABCP. 

This workshop will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams.
