Detailed Description
This talk uses the case study of the Leen to examine the intersecting geographical factors shaping urban rivers. The Leen was historically important to Nottingham’s industrial and urban development, yet in places it is hard to see – diverted, buried in culverts, hidden behind sheet piling. Past decisions taken to manage risks have left challenges today, such as flood risk. The talk will present findings from archive research, field work and laboratory analysis, and connect A-Level specification themes of risk management, contemporary urban environments and place making.
