This practical day will give you the confidence and knowledge to perform accurate eyelid surgery.  We will concentrate on situations common in general practice such as eyelid mass removal, entropion surgery, third eyelid gland replacement and keratotomy procedures with contact lens placement.  The day will provide a combination of theory and practical content, with plenty of opportunity for hands-on surgical practice on cadavers, including the use of magnification to improve your microsurgical skills.

 Topics to be covered

  • Preparing yourself, your patient and your instrumentation for surgery
  • Wedge resection and entropion techniques in dogs and cats
  • Third eyelid surgery for cherry eye replacement and scrolled cartilage repair
  • Options for keratotomy in non-healing ulcers
  • Improving your enucleation technique

By the end of the day you will be able to:

  • Achieve good eyelid margin apposition following eyelid mass removal
  • Explain the principles of appropriate entropion correction
  • Identify when keratotomy procedures are appropriate for treating non-healing ulcers
