Course Description

This online course is aimed at healthcare professionals and students who work with patients in a MSK environment and want to know more about radiographic appearances. This is a multi-professional study day with lectures, case studies and image viewing. You will be provided with a systematic approach to image analysis of the appendicular skeleton and learn image interpretation of normal variants and abnormal appearances.

Please note this course will be held online on Wednesday, 18 June 2025 from 9.30am to 4pm.

Once you’ve booked your place on the course, you will receive an email prompting you to register for a Teams webinar. You will need to do this to complete your booking, if you do not register you will not have access to the meeting link. Please ensure you enter the correct email address to receive the calendar invite. The course will take place on Microsoft Teams.

Alex Partner MSc, PGCert HE, BSc, SFHEA

Alex Partner is an Associate Professor in the School of Health Sciences and is the Director of Clinical Skills and Simulation at University of Nottingham. Alex is an award-winning diagnostic radiographer who has worked in higher education for over 13 years. Alex completed her master’s in health and social care and is working towards a PhD by publication. She is a Senior Fellow and completed the Aurora Women in Leadership programme. She is the UKs representative on the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS) Educational wing management team. She has also spent many years and the forefront of practice and education via roles as deputy Chair of the Heads of Radiography Education group, member of the Diagnostic Imaging Advisory Group, Radiography Journal International Advisory Board, College of Radiographers assessor and Insight editorial board member. Alex is passionate about student experience, patient care and simulation.

Richard Tucker MSc, PGCert HE, BSc

Richard Tucker is a highly experienced radiographer with over 25 years of clinical practice. He currently serves as a Radiography Clinical Lead. He qualified as a Diagnostic Radiographer from the University of Derby in 1997 and has worked at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust in various roles, including radiographer, reporting radiographer, MRI radiographer, superintendent radiographer, and practice development radiographer. He holds postgraduate certificates in chest and abdomen reporting and appendicular and axial skeleton reporting. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and sits on the AI advisory group for the Society of Radiographers.

He previously worked as a part time lecturer at the University of Derby, teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate radiography courses. Richard is now an associate lecturer focusing on his research interests in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in radiography. He is currently undertaking a PhD focused on how AI can be applied for student radiographers.

Richard has been involved in leadership roles such as assistant head of service and AHP lead for Health Education England East Midlands. He also supports education and continuous professional development for radiographers and has contributed to the Society of Radiographers’ Artificial Intelligence Advisory Group.
