Join our immersive, scenario-driven, face-to-face Multiprofessional Supervision for Clinical Practice two-day training programme designed for healthcare professionals stepping into supervisory roles for advanced and enhanced level practice. Whether you’re new to formal supervision or refining your skills, this programme offers structured, applied learning grounded in the 2025 NHS England refreshed guidance on workplace supervision for advanced practice. You’ll learn through immersive case studies, role play, peer interaction, and action learning sets - ensuring your supervision is not only effective, but also safe, restorative, and future-ready.

Course Description

Delivered by experienced clinical Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), this programme offers:

  • Real-world insights: Facilitators bring firsthand experience in supervision across diverse clinical settings.
  • Multi-professional perspectives: Training encompasses various professional backgrounds, reflecting the integrated nature of advanced practice.
  • Applied learning: Emphasis on practical application of theory through scenario-based learning and action learning sets.

Delivered over two consecutive weeks, day one explores the foundations of effective supervision, starting with a comprehensive overview of practice supervision before exploring the nuances of supervising across different professional backgrounds. Day two considers advanced supervision strategies, including techniques for effective feedback, a deep dive into supervision models and theories, and addressing challenges, including managing underperformance.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between the roles of supervisor and assessor in advanced practice.
  • Confidently apply supervision models to support supervisee development across the four pillars.
  • Create and maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Apply inclusive supervision strategies tailored to a range of professional backgrounds.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to supervisee challenges, including struggling learners.
  • Implement restorative supervision techniques to support supervisee well-being.
  • Understand and navigate the governance structures related to supervision.
  • Engage in reflective practice through action learning sets.

Pre-requisites

  • Current registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., NMC, HCPC, GMC).
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration clinical experience.
  • Involvement in or planning to undertake a supervisory role for advanced or enhanced level practitioners.
