Develop Your Leadership Identity Using Spotlight

A one-day in person interactive session for all who are wishing to get to know themselves better and use the Spotlight psychometric to help develop and grow their leadership identity and capability. 

Course Description

This one-day masterclass, delivered in person at the University of Nottingham, provides early career technical leaders with essential foundations. Through practical tools, interactive exercises and peer learning, participants will explore what it means to lead, build confidence and manage the transition into their first leadership role with clarity and resilience.  

This course is for technicians and technical professionals in higher education and research who want to better understand their leadership style, build confidence, and develop their leadership capability using their personal Spotlight profile. 

Learning Outcomes

• Interpret the key sections of your personal Spotlight profile and relate these to their leadership role and context.
• Identify your core drivers, strengths and behavioural preferences, and evaluate how these shape their current leadership identity.
• Recognise where your strengths are working well, where they may be overplayed, and where you may need to adapt your approach.
• Explore the conditions, support and “wriggle room” you need to thrive and perform at your best as a leader.
• Understand how confidence, resilience, stressors and pressure responses influence your leadership behaviour and decision-making.
• Apply your Spotlight insights to a current leadership challenge or development goal.
• Use simple coaching skills to support peer reflection, challenge assumptions and generate practical next steps.
• Create a personal leadership development action plan based on your Spotlight profile and current leadership priorities.
