Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS)

CAS

FREE OF CHARGE

Description

If you require a student visa to remain in the United Kingdom as a student, the UKBA requires the University to act as your Tier 4 immigration sponsor. If the University is able to act in this capacity, we have to issue a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies’ Certificate (CAS).

Please note - this document will be emailed to you, however you will still need to enter an address. This does not mean your document will be posted.

Detailed Description

If we are able to act as your immigration sponsor, it will take up to 3 working days to complete the initial CAS application process and we will e-mail you at your University e-mail address when it is ready.

Once the initial application has been completed you should see an International Student Adviser with a printed copy of the CAS application (which we will e-mail to you), your completed Tier 4 (G form), and any other supporting documents required for your visa extension.  Further information on the documents required can be found on the International Office’s website.

It is very important that you make your visa extension application well before the expiry date of your current visa. We strongly recommend that you have all of your documents completed and checked by an International Student Adviser at least 5 working days before your visa will expire.

If you are overseas and intend to make a student visa application from outside the UK you must still make contact with an International Student Adviser in order for a CAS to be created and assigned.  In these circumstances you should email international-support@nottingham.ac.uk at least 5 working days before you intend to submit your visa application.  We will then send your unique CAS reference number to you by email.

Further information about this certificate can be found on the Academic Services Division’s website.
