This five-day in person course will give you an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the principles and processes of undertaking systematic reviews to inform healthcare policy and practice.

Course Description

 

The course is divided into 3 modules; an introductory module (module 1), followed by modules specialising in the synthesis of quantitative and qualitative evidence (modules 2 and 3 respectively). All participants must undertake module 1 but can then choose to undertake both or just one of the subsequent modules. Hence, the course can be taken for a total of 3 or 5 days.

·        Module 1 – July 6th  2026

·        Module 2 – July 7th and 8th 2026

·        Module 3 – July 9th and 10th 2026

Course Fees include a lunch on the first day, tea/coffee, and all course materials.

Course Content


The course will give you an excellent understanding of all the steps required for undertaking a systematic review, including:

- deciding which review is appropriate for your enquiry

- formulating a review question

- developing a search strategy

- selection and screening of studies

- critical appraisal of research

- data extraction

- data synthesis, including meta-analysis (where appropriate) and meta-synthesis

- establishing confidence in the review findings (using GRADE or CONQUAL)

- reporting review findings according to PRISMA/ENTREQ guidelines

The course will provide you will opportunities to practice each of the above steps using JBI SUMARI software, and to develop a systematic review protocol related to your own question.
