This one day workshop provides practical guidance to enhance your interactions with canine clients and their owners.  Veterinarian and behaviourist Kendal Shepherd will share advice and techniques applicable to those working in veterinary settings and allied dog professions.  This is an interactive workshop where delegates will enjoy extensive hands-on opportunities throughout the day.

Topics to be covered include:

• Review and assess a dog’s behaviour and underlying emotions
• Practical demonstration of techniques and hands-on activities
• Behaviour communication as an aid to owner compliance and ‘bonding’ to your business
• Fact versus fiction, making sense of the related scientific literature and application to evidence-based practice
• Recognising paraprofessional support

Learning Objectives:

the end of the course the delegates should have an understanding and ability in the following areas:
• Handling techniques that can generate and maintain both appropriate animal behaviour and accompanying emotional states
• Manipulation of the behavioural repertoire of a dog to maximise success of interactions relevant to your professional role (e.g. for medical/surgical intervention or general handling)
• Improving interaction with dogs to enhance the human-animal bond
