Raptors - Emergency Care and Rehabilitation (10% online booking discount)

This one–day mixed seminar and practical masterclass will cover triage, first-aid, medical and surgical techniques utilised in raptor rehabilitation. Delegates will have the opportunity to perform basic techniques on cadavers under the supervision of an experienced surgeon and will have the opportunity to watch a flying display with various species of raptor.

Course Description

Topics to be covered include:

  • Triage and first aid of the wild raptor
  • Wildlife legislation
  • Treatment of soft-tissue and orthopaedic injuries
  • Rehabilitation
  • Bandaging and tube feeding

Learning Objectives:

  • Legal aspects and obligations in treating wild raptors
  • To ascertain the suitability of an individual to be treated and rehabilitated
  • The requirements of the wild raptor in captivity

Perform basic procedures such as injections, crop tubing and application of wing and foot dressings

Required Delegate Attributes:

This course is designed for rehabilitators and veterinary surgeons with all levels of experience.  It will provide invaluable experience for those who are new to avian surgery. The course would also be of value to those veterinary surgeons undertaking further professional qualifications exotic animal medicine. The course may also be suitable for experienced falconers.
