Advanced Spoken Italian This module is designed for students who have completed a level 5 Italian evening class or who have an equivalent amount of study (approximately 400 hours of study, B2-C1 on the Common European Framework for Languages.)

**Please note** - The full course is 20 weeks. The cost of the course is split into two instalments. First instalment is required to book your place on the course. The second instalment is due before the start of the spring term.

Term Dates:

  • Term 1 - Starts week commencing 9th October 2017 - Ends week commencing 11th December 2017.

Course Description

Classes will be held on Thursday evenings between 6 and 8pm.

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 

  • Discuss further social issues: new vs. traditional values; an ageing society; law enforcement; brain drain.
  • Cultural issues: newspapers, magazines and books; culinary traditions; Italian TV and TV personalities; Italian actors and films for the internal market; Italian music and music for the internal market; Italian stereotypes; varieties of the language
  • Historical issues: the origins of Italy; the making of Italy; parochialism vs. globalisation.
  • Write and speak with increasing sophistication and using different registers
  • Read more advanced texts
  • Argue topics
  • Discuss feelings
  • Use all tenses and moods with increasing mastery.
  • Use advanced language structures
