Greek 1

Modern Greek Level 1 is aimed at students with no previous knowledge of the language.

**Please note** - The full level 1 course is 20 weeks and costs £230 (students) or £250 (staff and members of the public). The cost of the course is split into two instalments. First instalment is required to book your place on the course. The second instalment is due before the start of the spring term.

Term Dates:

Term 1 - Starts week commencing 9th October 2017 - Ends week commencing 11th December 2017.

Term 2 - Starts Week commencing 29th January 2018 - Ends week commencing 30th April 2018. (Easter break 26th March 2018 to 22nd April 2018 - there are no classes during the break)

Course Description

Classes will take place on a Thursday evening between 6.30 and 8.30pm.

On successful completion of this 20 week course, students will be able to:

  • Exchange simple greetings 
  • Introduce themselves and other people 
  • Give personal information about family, job or studies, where they live, etc.
  • Give the same information about other people 
  • Handle numbers, quantities, and costs from 0-100
  • Order meals and drinks 
  • Express likes and dislikes 
  • Enjoy Greek hospitality - knowing what to say and when to say it! 
  • Express agreement and disagreement with somebody or about something
  • Use useful expressions to slow down native speakers
  • Use present tense in most common verbs
  • Write a short letter or email in Greek

 

 

Students will be required to purchase a text book for this course.
