This one-day workshop, which is part of the COTCA Project, will involve scholars from around the world working on different cases of 'foreign occupation' across the modern era.
The workshop will take place on Friday 23rd June 2017
Trent Building, LG11, University Park Campus
Discussion at the workshop will revolve around three distinct yet inter-related questions. These are:
- How can scholars use visual sources to better understand the cultural history of occupation in its broadest sense?
- How does the context of occupation lead to the development of distinctive visual cultures?
- What might comparative studies of visual cultures in different geographic and temporal contexts contribute to a better understanding of individual cases of occupation, and of occupation more generally?
