Once you have graduated from the University of Nottingham you can request a letter to confirm you studied here.

Information - please read before ordering:

  • This document will confirm the date you began your studies as well as the date you completed your studies, the degree awarded and the graduation date. Please note, however, that records for courses pre-1990 may not be as detailed.
  • It can take up to 5 working days for us to produce your document. This does not include the delivery period.
  • If you choose to have this document sent by courier there will be an additional cost of £30 at checkout. This will provide a more secure delivery and in some instances a quicker delivery service. If you wish to use a courier, please note that they will not deliver to PO Box addresses.
  • The Royal Mail/airmail option is free of charge and will be sent via standard 2nd class delivery.

Confirmation of Student Status Letter (current students only)


Confirmation of your student status at the University of Nottingham.

Please note - students may only request letters for themselves; requests on behalf of other students will not be accepted. This document can take up to five working days to produce.

You can request delivery via a courier at an additional cost of £30.  The delivery fee will appear on the order summary screen if this option is selected. If you wish to use a courier, please note that they will not deliver to PO Box addresses.

During your time at the University of Nottingham, you may need to confirm your status as a current student here.  A confirmation of student status letter will verify:

- Your Student ID number

- Your course details and start date

- The University term dates

- Your expected completion date

- Your expected graduation date

Travel Visas

If you are ordering a confirmation letter for a travel visa (either for your own travel or for guests to visit you), please do not use the Email option as embassies require an original signature on the letter.

Study Abroad and Exchange students

If you are studying as a Study Abroad or Exchange students please select the visiting students variant listed below.

Please note that visiting students letters are only available for collection from the International Office. If you are unable to come to the International Office you may request for the letter to be posted to your School or Department office (delivery can take 2-3 working days plus standard processing times). 

Other Exceptions

If you require a letter for council tax exemption for your Nottingham address you should contact the Student Services Centre

Students studying a Presessional English Programme through the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) should request a letter from their School. You can find more information about how to do this on CELE’s intranet site.

If you choose to collect your document, you will still need to enter an address.  This does not mean your document will be posted.
